I also do ‘Black Magic’

Hello people!

Its been a while we waved a Hi! gossiped clothes and life in general. I try work on themes and my invariably evolving thoughts about life, beliefs and habits in such a way that more and more of you could relate and take inspiration. Inspiration not in the sense what Sonam Kapoor does to you but what I mean is rather deep and logical.  I am an ordinary woman crusading for a life less ordinary. So i’d give the real life observations, the changes I made, how I broke my own rules and how they helped me transform into a person I am today.

My blog of course is open to all but whom I rather focus on are those innumerous women like me who spend their entire life playing safe and prefer following the blueprint.

‘No way! I am black myself, its not my color’ I heard my own mother saying this often while we were kids. Not that she was ashamed of her dark sensuous South Indian skin tone but what would people say, they’ll laugh etc. Whereas I only found her looking the most beautiful in darker shades. She never risked her choices and It took me a while to decide that life is not about the design, preferred colors choices, or being happy in your own skin (yes, I differ here) its also about working on your weaker, why settle ? why not try, try effort forget results. Its also taking risk, sometimes it works. really works.

How you are going to see me today is not my usual colorful hippie self. For a person usually drenched in colors, whose often tagged as human rainbow will be seen in the color of sophistication, muteness and mystery – Black.

When Mumbai based Fashion Designer Nikkie Jain, asked me to do this Goth Vintage Black Saree, my instant answer was a bit apprehensive as my personal choices over Sarees has usually been culturally infused. I  mostly wear handlooms and cottons. So Bam! this was a unique silhouette and a color that I love ofcourse but wear usually on special moods.

The color black relates to the hidden, the secretive and the unknown, and as a result it creates an air of mystery. It keeps things bottled up inside, hidden from the world. We shot this wonderful Saree with keeping these thoughts in mind… We wanted the pictures to depict the beauty, silence and enigma of the color Black.

Black : is the absorption of all color and the absence of light.  Black hides, while white brings to light.  What black covers, white uncovers.  We all use black at various times to hide from the world around us in one way or another. Some of us use it to hide our weight; others among us use it to hide our feelings, our fears or our insecurities.

The color black is often seen as a color of sophistication, as in ‘the little black dress’, or ‘the black tie event’. Affluent women often choose black as it can give an instant impression of elegance, sophistication and confidence. Black is often associated with sexiness. Black is the end, but the end always implies a new beginning. When the light appears, black becomes white, the color of new beginnings. This is my interpretation of the color.

If you liked seeing me style something like this and would want me to do it often do share your views.
